Judging will be based on the following criteria:
  1. Composition/Arrangement (20%) Are the objects in the photo arranged in a meaningful, pleasing manner or are they “haphazard”?  Did the photographer use the best angle or otherwise interesting perspective?

  2. Lighting (20%) Did the photographer use proper lighting of the subject matter?  Do any extremes of darkness or brightness lend to or distract from the image content?

  3. Creativity/Originality (20%) Does the photographer show some creative thought or original idea in the making of this image?

  4. Focus/Sharpness (20%) Is the object of the photo in focus?  If not in sharp focus, does it appear to be an intentional effect to enhance the image in some “artistic” way?

  5. Caption (10%) Is the caption creative and well written?

  6. Theme Interpretation (10%) How well did the artist interpret the theme?  Did the artist’s interpretation cause the audience to view agriculture in a way they hadn’t thought about before?

Using this criterion as a guide along with their own knowledge of photography, the judges award ribbons for 1st place and $100; 2nd place and $75; and 3rd place and $50 for both age divisions.

  1. Caption: Artist is to write an approximate 50 word caption to each submitted photo.  Attach the caption to the front of the matte board.

  2. Work that is for sale will be charged 25% commission if sold at the Expo.  Please price your piece accordingly.  No changes are permitted as to price, item, or title.  Commissions will benefit the CMAS Youth in Agriculture activities.
